Being in shape and being happy go hand in hand, and here is why.

Lifting weights will help improve your immunity. The strength of your immune system depends on the amino acid glutamine available in your body. Your muscles have to supply glutamine to your system for it to work properly. The more muscle you have the higher the amount of glutamine.

Lifting weights also help with bone growth. Stanford University did a study that showed 20% of bone mineral density comes from maintaining muscles. Also, elderly women who began weight training programs increased strength by 20% in just one year, while at the same time increasing bone density.

You can also beat diabetes while training. This is due to the improvement of glucose tolerance in patients with Type 2 diabetes. This comes as a shock to many because diabetes can be a life threatening disease with no potential for improvement.

After you begin adult hood you lose up to a half a pound of muscle tissue each year. Therefore, strength training will help maintain and improve muscle mass and strength through out our lives.
